WHAT IS ITIP-2020?

ITIP is short for IREN Technologies & Innovation Platform

The ITIP 2020 program seeks to promote awareness and adaptation of Smart Sustainable Solutions for Agribusiness (Farm & Firm) with a particular focus of optimizing five crucial areas.

These areas are:-

  1. Finance: Technology and smart solutions that address the challenge of cash flow among Small Holder Farmers in the Lake Region Economic Bloc
  2. Security: Technology and Smart solutions that address the challenge of petty theft that curtails productivity in crop and animal husbandry
  3. Labor Enhancing: Technology and smart solutions that address the challenge of use of rudimentary (back-breaking processes) in production and value addition processes
  4. Markets: Technology and Smart solutions that connect major market centers in the Lake Region Economic Bloc to facilitate an efficient market system
  5. Big Data: Technology and smart solutions that enable players in the agribusiness value chain to leverage on big data/information

OBJECTIVES OF ITIP 2020

This year, we are focusing on

Smart sustainable solutions

To identify smart sustainable solutions that can be contribute in improving commercialization and diversification in the agribusiness sector

Showcasing Smart Solutions

To offer youth a platform to showcase smart sustainable solutions for agribusiness that address challenges across the agricultural value chains

Optimizing Agri-processes

To optimize agri-processes by promoting the best mix of innovation and technology to business processes along the agribusiness value chain

WHO CAN APPLY FOR ITIP 2020?

  1. Individuals aged 18years and above
  2. Applicants should be residents of the 14 lake region counties: Siaya, Homabay, Migori, Kakamega, Bungoma, Busia, Vihiga, Trans Nzoia, Kisii, Nyamira, Bomet, Kisumu, Kericho and Nandi Counties
  3. Have at least completed secondary education
  4. Express an interest or understand challenges facing agribusiness sector in their counties
  5. Available for training and meetings throughout the program (March – November 2020)
  6. Agri-related Institutions, companies and organisations who have been in operation for more than 3 years could also apply through a representative

Institutions that also wish to showcase during our Exhibitions and Trade Fairs could also apply
